I reworked the first image, based upon feedback that it seemed soft. I wanted to see if I could make it sharper without blowing it out. Comments/suggestions?

These are nice John, I'm a softy for owls, I don't see that many. They may be a little bit soft on focus. Are they hand held?

Thanks for your comments. The shots were hand held but my experience with owls is they look soft but maybe too soft in this case. Thanks again.

The repost doesn't look too bad. You might want to try selecting only the eye and giving it a little tweak in contrast to sharpen it and give it a little color boost.
