p.1 #1 · Help with big project..

Hi

I have a large, paying project coming up. An artist has asked me to photograph 4,500 of her paintings. The shoot itself is no problem - there is no rush and I will do it over several weeks. All shooting will take place in the same room, so I have a relatively constant environment.

The challenge is in the post-processing.

I need to produce 2 images from each shot. One is for a DVD slideshow, and the other must be a sharp, large image for a web gallery. One needs to have a standard black border, the other no border.

The software I have is Bridge/CS2 and/or Lightroom.

I think I will crop first, then adjust WB, saturation and sharpening. Then I will output the 2 images.

I have never processed such large numbers of very similar images before. Does anyone have any insights or advice to simplify my workflow?

Thanks in advance!

I was actually about to look around for something that would do something similar

I would say to look/create for an action that you could load X amount of images into PSCS2 and it would automatically resize, add border, sharpen etc.
I am sorry I don't know how to find or create an action that would do that. But I am sure it is possible. Maybe ask around a Photoshop forum.
Hmm, the more I think about it the more I realize you have ALOT of work in PS to do hahaha. That is if you want to crop, adjust WB/Sat and sharpen each image uniquely... The action will work great if you are doing all the same edits.
So the only action I could think of is one that would automatically open a folder of images and then resize/save as copy in folder of choice. Maybe another action that would add a border.

Good Luck!
Steve

Thanks Steve

I think we will be able to sharpen the images in batches, and obviously the end output too.... but I doubt if a batch crop is workable. I'll just have to keep poking around and see what's out there.

Yeah, you should be able to do batch sharpening, resizing and bordering. But the rest is to unique to each photo...
What are you using for sharpening? I got a Bill Atkinson sharpening action that is REALLY nice So if you want it I can prolly email it to you.
