p.1 #1 · LOTS of 1Dx bodies on B&S?

Seen more for sale this week, than cumulatively for months. Is the MKIV expected? Seems strange, everyone trying to sell at the same time..

You're kidding right? How would all of these owners of the cameras mysteriously know that a new camera is on the way? I highly doubt that canon sends them a secret email, or calls them up and says "Hey buddy, sorry about the whole mark III focus problems. Listen, we have a new camera on the way, you might as well sell your old piece of junk on Fred Miranda's Buy and sell board before it's too late!"

maybe because football season is over?

Or because people are finally getting their camera's back from Canon Repair and even though it works they are just frustrated with th company and jumping ship.

There is a lot of shifting in the ranks because a few are selling off there Mark III's due to frustration from the focus issues. Someone wants to buy a Mark III they put there Mark II up for sale some one wants to buy a Mark II they put there 1D up ect ect

Bush Bucks? This comming from a Canadian using LOONIES!? I can't respect a country where most small bills come in change rather than bills.

Nobody would want to buy a MK III that didn't have a blue dot or the current submirror fix paperwork. My "first of issue" Mk III has always worked well but I sent it in to preserve resale value. My bonus is that I get an extended warantee. So the whole submirror thing has been a win/win for me.

So there may have been a dearth of used Mk IIIs due to the submirror fix delay. Some people have bought D3s and now wish to sell their Mk III(I am keeping mine).

Eh metals worth something, what's paper. I'm semihappily semipatiently waiting with a 1dm2. On the bright side there will be new cameras eventually and George will stop 'helping' your economy at some point too.

The economy will improve after the election. We've been hearing "this is the worst economy since the depression" for a year now from certain candidates, and naturally the polls start to reflect that sentiment. Self-fullfilling prophecy.
Now George gets to deal with the sub-prime mess, which was brought about by actions taken in 1995 by another president... look up the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) which essentially browbeat the mortgage companies into giving out loans to high-risk borrowers.

1% Fed funds, and zero government oversight didn't help too much either. Mix in some speculation and some dumb money, and viola...

Oh, please. Cameras are not that valuable and everybody is not going broke. It is part of the typical upgrade cycle, as many new bodies were introduced last year, with some added effect of the 1D MK III debacle.

The US dollar's so worthless overseas it might as well come in coins, right up to $10

As for the MkIII sales, I suspect a lot of folks just have lost trust in the body, whether from direct experience with a problem or just a hunch that something's not right. Why else would there be such a relatively high number of a flagship models for sale? There's nothing to "upgrade" to from a 1D3 except a canon body that costs twice as much and has half the frame rate, or a Nikon.

Granted, the FM B&S board is hardly the stuff of a scientific survey but it's a start.

I think it is because the 1D3 is not worth the $$. The focus issues are the least of the worries, there are fundamental flaws in its design with one of the biggest being you cant select all AF points.
In contrast there arent many 1Dmk1's for sale at the moment.

That's a wise & educated statement, who learn the lesson from the past, not quick to pointing finger at the present. It was definitely the un-intention consequence by whom no think it deep enough. Anyway, I don't need a stinking "secret mail" from Canon, I will sell my Polaroid collection and wait for the 5D-II or MK-III-bis, whatever come first

Awful battery consumption. See what I wrote here. If you'll search, you'll find plenty more such moans…

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
