JMShort Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #1 · Drop shadow; yea or nay? I'm preparing files for prints to hang in a gallery. Previously most of my prints there have been printed borderless. This year I'm printing several images with a white border around them. I've been thinking of adding a drop shadow behind the image, but I'm not sure how this would come off...classy or cheap? The gallery is a seasonal gallery in a vacation area with all kinds of art, from folk-art furniture, fine ceramics and jewelry, sculpture paintings and photography. For me, the heart of the photography at the gallery are a number of beautifully printed large B&W prints from a photographer who worked in the area from the mid-1930's on, documentary and scenic photography. One problem with drop shadows is that they convey a sense of lighting direction which may or may not conflict with the image content.
