p.6 #1 · The faces behind the cameras

I'm meeting Jim at Hualupai Hilltop in a month and I still have no idea what he looks like?!! I thought to myself, great, Jim's a regular here and surely he'll post something and all will be good. Guess not!

Either nobody has shot him from the front or he gets in the way a lot! Dave

Or maybe we just start with this one - Jim at work in the Smokies!!

whoa guys, slow down. No need to use words with only 3 characters with 2 being "ss"

I would post a pix, but I am never behind the lens if I can help it
Any who. Here is a Christmas card image I shot in 2006 of the Kuglin Clan with my wife (for life), daughters and 2 grandkids. Since then I have 2 more grand sons from my #2 daughter.

I am a hardware engineer, ASIC designer, system architect (a fellow with 23 years of service at my company) of a silicon valley company living outside Hillsboro Oregon. I currently have a staff of 12 electrical engineers who make me look really good (read they are really good w/o any help from me and make me look good). We design the test equipment that verifies the HW you are currently using to access the internet and process your images since all processors are built by 1 of 2 companies - guess who!

My day job pays my bills and allows me to waste money on my hobby - common story here on the landscape forum.

Looks like we need to start a new thread "Backs behind the camera" and Jim's foto would be good for the first post, but definitely not for this thread

Doug, man don't encourage Sunny! He will be gloating about that for the next week now!

And as far as the title of the thread goes, I guess I just saw the "behind" part of the title...

Hello

Well I guess it is my turn to join in the fun. I usually don't like to have pictures taken of me. I'd rather be doing the shooting. However my wife was able to fire off a couple of shots of me last weekend up at daffodils fields in Skagit Valley this past weekend.

Here is some background info on me. Up until 2006 I was a full time county planner. In other words I was the person who could make your life a living hell by denying your building permit. Not a glamourous job by any means, and the stress of the job is very high. In August of 2006 I was laid off from my job. Getting laid off left me with a decision of either having to uproot my family to a different location or find a job in Wenatchee, WA were I live. I decided on option 3 which was to take my photography (hobby) to full time status and make a go of it. With the support of my wife (thank god she has an awesome job!!) I have been a full time photographer since then. I sell my photography mostly at art shows across the Northwest (roughly 25 to 30 shows a year). It is a lot of fun, however it can be stressful at times. The competition of selling photography is extremely fierce, especially landscape photography.

I enjoy being a part of the FM community. This forum is a great asset to everyone. Thanks so much for your critiques whether positive or negative because it helps me and all of us grow as photographers.

Here a couple of pics.

Jim Fox at Valley of fire. Not exactly going to recognize him very well from this shot. Look for a guy wearing (constantly) a ball cap, and having at least two (perhaps more) camera bodies around his neck, and running from comp to comp. I'm not sure if he felt good that day, he looked kinda pale

Hilarious. Nice work Tim.

And where's Bart at? He's got to have a few of Jim around somewhere.

I think there is a sub-plot here.
For those of you that have watched "Home Improvement" w/Tim Allen,
there was character named Wilson, his next door neighbor.
Wilson never showed his full face.
So my suspicions are that Jim is the real "Wilson" and the ubiquitous baseball cap
is his cover.

Just a thought

Dan

Geographer ... working in a GIS/GPS solutions company in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Got hooked onto photography when I got my first digicam - a Fujifilm 1.3 megapixel P&S. Am from South India, but have been in the US for 8 years. I love this country because its got a huge variety of landscape formations, and its so easy to travel.
