Ha, you caught me and my dyslexia in the same room together! Of course there's 365 days in a year....Alex, sorry but I have to take back my well wishing for the time being!!!
Love that "Bling" Roman !
Man I wish I had your scenery.
Dang it's brown and flat here !
(crying in my Cheerios, j/k)
If your housing wasn't so expensive I'd move in a second !
(You can get a 3 bedroom 3 car garage 120' x 150' lot brand new in a good school system for $200K-$225 here)
Hi People and warm greetings to everyone on the forum
so here is a christmas shot of the clan .. we are fusion of San Franciso/Oxford origins ( I'm on the near left with my son and my husband is the smiley chinese guy) . I've included some images from death valley, my son loved being here he was captivated by the dunes especially.
I am a scientist from Cambridge.. I have a research fellowship to study mechanisms of inflammatory arthritis and my husband studies the physiology of obesity and appetite pathways.
My husband Giles is a rock .. he supports me in my hobby 100% and lets me spend my money on camera gear which we should, if we were sensible, spend on kitchen refurbs and dining tables ....
Ou holidays are centred around great locations but I do the photography before they wake up and we all meet up for breakfast ...we enjoy the landscape by hiking and exploring together and they join me for the sunsets if its not too late or inconvenient.
Aged 64, nowhere near the youngest on here - and not even David’s calculations could make me so - I was a teacher of Music, Drama and Team Sports all my working life. I took early retirement in 2000, as my wife developed Encephalitis and needed full time care
After Ruth died in 2005, I decided not to return to work,; but to remain retired and follow my passion for landscape photography. As I have family who live on the US - Canada border in Victoria, BC, I now spend several months a year in the area. The FM site helped me tremendously over the long period of crisis and subsequent loss; and I have been privileged to meet many of it’s members on my travels.
I seem to have run out of self-portraits - due to previous threads like this - and so I use 2 pics of me taken by Bart Carrig and Javier Rey over this last year. (Hope you don’t mind, guys)
1. Wild Man
My hair cut has been tamed a bit since Bart took this picture on Shi Shi beach; where we two and Don Hall photographed the sunset, a total eclipse of the moon and the subsequent moonset and sunrise - an unforgettable experience. I assure you that the footwear was necessary for the trek in!
Hey, I'll throw myself out there! I don't get here as much as I would like, but I really love being amaized by all of your work and I'm always learning something new. I am a manager of a lumber yard in Ohio, but would love to figure out how to make this my career (and still be able to eat and travel and raize kids). This is me at the wrong time of day on Cadilac Mtn.

Hi Martin,
nice idea from Ute, so this forum will become much more familiar. I think the footwear is an absolutely necessary equipment for all famous photographers .
I tried to put a portrait from me and my wife Maria, but for some reason it doesn't work anymore to set a link to my homepage. All the the accustomed actions doesn't seem to work anymore
Wow does this thread have legs!...
This is a great idea... I feel as if I know you all a little better now.
This is a pic of Tamy and I in Redwood National Park in a canyon carved by the Pacific Ocean. Tamy and I share a passion for travel, photography, and the environment. I am a one time field ecologist turned high school biology teacher (going on 16 years now). Tamy is an registered nurse for a university hospital.
One time farmer, now more of an economist come conservationist.
most important things for me are my family, friends and the environment (particulalry landscape and marine).
Photography provides two things for me; a way to explore my love for the environment and also a creative outlet that expands what is a very analytical approach to life.
I am a Mental Health Worker and have been for 27 years. I started working in an enormous State Mental Institution when I was 20 years old and when that closed I transitioned into the community where I assisted severely mentally ill people with essentially living their lives on a day to day basis. I currently work on a 16 bed sub-acute mental health and addiction services unit.
Ok, I now do nothing. My wife Linda (of 34 years) and I retired from Huntington Beach CA in December of '06, and moved to Sequim WA. We just moved into our dream house. From here the OlyPen is steps away. I have had opportunity to shoot with many FM'rs, and hope to do more of that in the future. Seems that this new job takes more of my photography time than it should. This shot from a old railroad bridge in town in January. The snow had just melted. http://i.pbase.com/o6/99/15999/1/94861583.tqGB0zAC.LindaandTimupload.jpg
Oh, a view from my back porch. http://k53.pbase.com/o3/99/15999/1/89668930.yIHMQ78i.IMG_7793uoload.jpg
I'm a manager for a large multinational telecommunications company, and have been in the electronics industry since the '70s. My interest in photography began in the late '50s with a Christmas gift from my parents of a Kodak Brownie, which I used to snap photos around the neighborhood and on family vacations. In the '60s I moved up to an Instamatic 120. Both cameras are still here, safely stored in a drawer. My father wasn't interested in photography, but my grandfather, who was from southern Illinois, was an avid photographer. He shot with large format cameras. Only a few of his glass and film negatives remain in Texas. When he passed-on before I was born, most of his work was given to a relative in Illinois. No one seems to know where it is today.

It amazes me how many left brainers we have on here (i.e. engineers, IT, etc.) I'm seeing the connection with all the tech talk now .
Ok -- From Mountain Bike instructor to Pilot(school) to Large Corporation (account management) and now full-time photographer (age 31). I find excitement in change I guess. Honestly, I got sick of the 8-5 office work and took the plunge, because who needs money, right?. A lot of my photography focuses in the outdoor industry, but I also shoot architecture and some event work. And of course, love landscapes and have several projects in the works including a book we just finished publishing. Loving the photo life! But most importantly have the most amazing and supportive wife & little boy in the world!
Oh and I'm only ripping on myself with the left brain comments as my degree is in number crunching Finance. Glad it is though, because when you take the plunge into photography full-time it's Sales, Business Skills, Photo skills (in that order)
Me again...back when I did stupid things on bikes (and let my wife take the pictures ). BTW - Came up a little short on this line and broke my left wrist. Luckily it was the end of our trip - (location: Lake Tahoe) http://www.kevinwinzeler.com/photos/221152538_AyLzZ-L-1.jpg
