What makes them great? The photo tells me only that they are two women, albeit that they have lovely expressions.

Sure, but never jo less, I like to take photos of peoples expressions, and sometimes I know they are only interresting for me, because I know the story behind. These two women own a small piece of land, and invited us to have our lunch there, a beautifull place in the Golan heights.

The channels are clipping and color balance in the shot of the women is skewed towards yellow. Try opening in Hue/Saturation, select yellows, and reduce saturation to about -30 to -35 and compare the difference (simpler to fix that way than manipulating curves). Since the background isn't adding significant context it could be cropped top and sides for fewer distractions.

Nybo, why did you shoot with such a small aperture? The photo would have been much better if shot at f5.6 or less. All of the background elements prove far too distracting, in my opinion (so like Chuck said, crop it tighter at the very least)

Keep shooting though!

You sir, are in need of a polarizer. I think it would help balance the light alot better in this second shot.

Cant win can you?
I like it and I suspect the colour balance is indicative of the intense light you get in the Middle East once you are out of the golden AM or PM.

Thank's for all comments. I often travel with a Canon IXUS400 in my pocket, and sometimes I don't get the tecnical best shot, but grab an important monent, as for the expression of the two women.
