p.1 #1 · 'Backboard Jungle'

This Bud's for hoops fans. I shot this yesterday in a baseball field/basketball court (where I also shot "Batter's Box", which can be found in the "Painterly" thread) in the Soho section of lower Manhattan. Nikon D1x, 28mm f/2 AI-S Nikkor, 125 ISO. Handheld, manual focus, manual exposure. Comments are welcome.

Hi Scott, interesting shot. I love the simplicity yet the power of the picture. The basket without the net tells a story and you managed to intensify this by
the dark clouds with a touch of blue sky in between to show there is still hope for better days.

Thanks for sharing.

I just visited your web site. You really know how to capture common scenes where everybody would just walk by and wouldn't recognize the power or meaning of it. You have the ability to see things which many of us don't see. Keep on!

You're most welcome, Scott. This shot looks more friendly because of the brighter exposure. I like the perspective of this one but I think that 'Backboard Jungle' has much more impact due to the dark colors.
