Just had to bump this thread as I am very excited to be picking up a 300mm 2.8 v.soon (admittedly the non-IS). Here's a couple of quick test shots with it

I'd imagine by the look of it it's from a certain mountain in north wales. I won't say any more as there is a certain amount of well not secrecy but hush about the locations. I've shot there a couple of times and had a great day out. Found the 400mm too short where i was but got some nice Hawk shots but the hercs didn't come through!
