Nice series

The Grosbeak isn't, though - at the moment they're safely out of North America for the winter! It's a Purple Finch, probably a first year male, given the little purple flecks around the throat and head.

Cheers,

Larry

All hail the king! The wren, you are starting to worry me. Are we going to read about you in the paper? "he was a nice man, a bit of a loaner, he liked birds. I don't know how he could have......"

Another wonderfullicous series. Something for me to aim for. Inspiring. I would have to agree about the finch. We have these guys and in some plumage they can get confusing. Although fishbio may not know you well enough yet, you probably can keep the grossbeaks here!

Ahhhh, at home with the little birds. Such a pleasure to view, particular to the yellow-rumped warbler followed by the uniqueness of the 'house' wren. Very neat effect by the window pane I might add. Congrats on the proud Purple finch, I think he was happy to have you see him!
Excellent, and intimate.............

Thank you, Shelley. Bluebirds are really hard to get, as they never come close to people or even feeders.

That's it..i'm giving up
Impossible to pick a fav. but I like the lizard shot...something unusual for a change!
You're the maestro when it comes to small birds!

Thanks, Lil. The Carolina Wren is used to my house. S/he comes to visit me at least once a month. I leave the backyard door open for the dog and since they are the most curious birds I have seen they come in and check the place. I really don't like them coming inside since they can break their necks flying againg the glass. It happened already with a House Wren and it was very sad to see that poor bird die like that. Carolina Wrens are smarter though and they know better.
