There aren't a whole lot of brant's posted so I thought I would share a couple I shot today. I don't think I have ever seen these guys with the sun behind me, it always seems to be a grey day with glaring water. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.

Nice shots, looks like a bit of a gloomy day. # 1 is my pick Tim.

Good work, Tim!
Very nice in spite of our crappy weather--which is really getting me down.
Where were these guys? It looks as though they are letting you get fairly close. The ones that I know are very, very spooky.

Roger, thanks.

Lil, gloomey yes but it seemed nice after spending the morning in my attic doing some electrical work! Thanks.

Bonnie, this was at Golden Gardens, I live within walking distance, well a good walk! There is a stream that crosses the beach and they were drinking out of it so they were distracted. That and I think they get somewhat used to people there, the place is pretty busy even on days like today. Spring is coming, the cherry blossoms are out, better days are coming soon. Thanks for the kind words.

Nice job under difficult conditions, love the waves in the bg on the first shot. I'll bet these would be awesome looking in better light, hope to see more..

I have to admit I didn't know what brants are
1st shot is great because on the Bg there's so much energy and with braking, while in the foreground the main subject is so relaxed and peaceful.

Interesting ... Geese? Are they Geese Tim? What a stark difference between them and the often photographed Canada and Snow, etc. relatives. I love the chocolate coloring.

Hey Tim .... wuuuuuuuupppppp!!!
man shot number 1 is a very strong image. Or IMHO................... Really like the stance and and position of the Brandt. Looks like very tough lighting but I think you exposed the photo very well. BG with the wave coming in really ads to the shot for me.........

Well done my friend !!

Thats,
Mr. Whitmore to you

Very cool shots! I have yet to see one of these in the wild yet. Looks like the light was crappy but you did a great job. Steve W

Laura, thanks for the kind words.

Nello, I like your take on the first shot. I was lucky, this guy was patient.

Terry, yes they are a goose and they are indeed a very dark brown. Hard to capture, I have a lot of misses!

Mr. Whitmore, thanks bud.

Socrate, these guys are somewhat rare in the sense that they tend to be shy and don't like to hang around people. The stop by the Puget Sound region in late spring on their migration, rest and eat eel grass in the shallows.

Steve, the light was crappy, I have never seen these guys in the sunshine!

Thanks to all for the kind words. 1 is my favorite but I wanted to have a shot of one in the water so included the not so hot 2.
