Well i went out with a couple of friends today to Caesar's Creek state park and then after that we went to the spring valley marsh. I did not get my shots there however i did capture my best so far of a Red Shoulder Hawk. This Hawk let me setup the tripod and mount the camera on the Wimberly and really compose the shot.
Here are my two favorites. Which one do you like better, i am having trouble picking one myself.

They are both excellent. I love it when RSH's sit still like that! I like #1 better as between these two, but would like to see a closer crop of it.
Okay, I'll be the odd one out. I like the second one better, because it looks like the hawk is screaming at you, as opposed to screaming at the tree. Besides, my neck is killing me at the mo', and it hurts even more just looking at the head turned so much!

I agree, #2 is cool because the hawk does look like it is screeming at me. I have been leaning towards number one because it shows more detail in the case, and i still have caught that catch light in the eyes.
Both great shots! I do like the tighter crops but it is always nice to see some of the enviroment if the shots are in a set. The first one is the one - as you said it shows more detail. Steve W
