Found this couple nest building . Early morning haze and long distance made for a not so good shot,,,but hey I don't see this often. Matter of fact , I have never seen it.
I spent a few hours watching. I was surprised at the size of some branches. Also didn't know that they fly by and break off a branch. And after a few trips of gathering branches they will go to a marsh area and get some grass and mud. I watched as one branch didn't come loose and put him in a nose dive for a second. Late afternoon the sun will benefit me and maybe some better shots

Despite the lighting issues, which of course are beyond your control, I think Image #3 works just fine! Congrats on being lucky enough to see and enjoy that unique behavior.
I've seem some really interesting things that eagles do, but I'd never imadgined about the fly-by-break-offs. If you caught any shots of that, I'll really like to see. . . I'll have to wait for updates from you on this behavior.
browncam wrote,, #1 is a great shot. I think colour would only create a distraction. Did one bird do all the heavy lifting while the other acted as foreman?
Thanks ,,,They seemed to pretty much share the work, some of these limbs are large, I was amazed they were flying with them . The one watching is the female,,,giving directions ,,I'm sure
Rob-Bob,,,luck it was. I went back thru the pictures, didn't find any breaking a branch in action. This afternoon they weren't doing much building, mainly watching their neighborhood. The male got hungry and went for Duck dinner. He can skin a duck in no time at all.. Maybe I'll get some shots of this type action in good light.
Just got a 600 and need to put it to good use.
Geez Jim, I think these pictures are very neat, a perfect example of less is more, these have great impact and help tell the story. I bet you were mesmerized by the whole thing, this would be incredible to witness. Amazing the size branches that are being carried too, very neat that you saw the grass and branches go together.
Glad you took the shots to share, they are wonderful.
