My pictures are all getting compressed.
I've tried all sorts of resizing, nothing helps. Let's try renaming the image..
Ahh, that seems to do the trick, I don't know why but the html defaults to 900 width.

I don't know if this was properly explained later in this thread, but I can tell you why this is happening. I am afraid that I am the culprit who wrote the code that does it. The site learns the sizes of images embedded in messages so that it can draw the page quickly even when there are many images hosted elsewhere which are slow to load. It allows you to go to the end of the page and read the last message without the message continually jumping downwards out of your browser window as images above load and reveal their true height. The problem you are seeing occurs when you change the size of an image on your server. FM has no way of knowing that you have done that. One day someone might get around to thinking a way around that, but for the moment the best solution is to change the name/url of your files, so that FM has to learn their size all over again. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the juddering page problem was worse, and really slowed down access to messages near the end of the page.

Greets.

The search function is returning invalid urls, like this:
http://www.fredmiranda.com/topic/676051/0?keyword=utah#6044495

Part of the path,
http://www.fredmiranda.com/FORUM/topic/676051/0?keyword=utah#6044495
is being dropped.

Thanks for running the board!

Scrolling down a forum, you find a thread you'd like to peruse. Instead of just clicking on the link, I Apple-click to open the thread in a new window rather than go back using browser buttons.

What happens is that the thread opens in a new window, but the forum window that you clicked from loads the thread, too, so you still have to click the back button. This happened when I first joined a few months back, then stopped & worked properly shortly thereafter. Since the upgrade it's doing the same thing.

Problem repeatable in both Camino (1.5.4) & Safari (2.0.4) on Mac OS 10.4.

Would also be nice to have a "It's been XX minutes/hours/days since you last visited" (a la POTN) notification somewhere for one reason: It would be nice to know how far back into the classifieds I'd need to go to get to the posts that had been added since the last time I was on.

Thank you.

Thats what you get for using an Apple...Dont get problems like that with normal PC's

I didnt go back more than a couple of pages to see if someone brought this up already. Its been a while since Ive participated here, and one thing I noticed today bugs me. I type all of my posts in Word Perfect, mostly for the spell check, then paste it into the posting box when I'm satisfied with what I have written. I do this no matter what forum Im posting in, but now when I do this at FM, and I use the apostrophe, the apostrophe is replaced with weird characters, and I have to go back and edit the post several times to fix them all. Sometimes, just replacing the apostrophe isnt enough, and I have to retype the entire word. Im not going to replace any of the apostrophes in this post so that what I am describing can be clearly seen. I just hope this post can be read.

Is there a way to fix this? It's really time consuming to go back and fix every apostrophe in every post. By the way, I'll fix the apostrophes for this sentence only.

Gary, do the apostrophes look weird when you paste them? Probably has to do with different encoding schemas. This box is expected purely ASCII, but if you are using a weird font in WP, the apostrophe may be converted to some non-ASCII extended character. Try a different font, like a fixed font a la Courier.

No, everything looks normal when I paste them, but when I click on the send reply, the apostrophes are replaced with a question mark, which I can see when I go to edit the post, and translated to the garbely goop you see in my last post. The font I am using is Times New Roman. Word Perfect lists both Courier and Times New Roman as true type fonts.

Doesn’t seem to be doing that this morning. Haven’t had to replace a single apostrophe.

Is it just me, Or do the new ad's seem to make the site run really slow? It also seems to keep "Loading" When you click the "Refresh Page" Button, And there is also a lag when typing replies.

It also seems to affect me when I'm on other forums, But as soon as I close down the FM Pages, Everything works fine again.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues since the Ad's have been added to the site?

I do not know whether this is a bug or not, but I just found out that I am unable to see ANY Forum messages once I login under my regular login "meeus". Also, when I check my profile, it has a red X mark there. What is all this supposed to mean??

Thanks!

Thes two things are probably minor, and waiting to jump out and bite, but here goes:

1. When I post, I get an e-mail notice for my own post. Did I miss something?

2. I think I've asked this before, but I'm confused about image size. I had "standardized" my image size for posting at 750 px on the length. but sometimes (more frequenly, now), I get a reject for oversize file. Even resizing to 550 doesn't always help. What am I missing? Or simply don't understand?

Received an e-mail about a new PM, but the link is no longer a link. It lost the http://www.fredmiranda.com part of it, and just has the /forum/pm.php? part.

I'm betting some streamlining code got a little too effective.
