Electricity is such a fundamental part of our lives that the technology behind its generation and distribution is easily forgotten -- seems all so mundane, but isn't really.
For the record, this photo was taken in an altitude of about 15 feet at Mach 0.0. Oh... and as people here come from all corners of the world, I might want to add that this here is how a wall socket looks like in parts of continental Europe.
Incidentally, I don't understand why Europe uses sockets like that. Everytime I see them, they are these huge plugs coming out of the wall and are really ugly. At least from an appreance standpoint, our American plugs seem to blend into their environment a little better. Maybe thats just me...
Thanks Steve, Kevin and Chad. Glad you like the photo.
Steve: I guess I am always trying to get as simple a photo as possible hoping to keep enough substance so people would still be drawn towards it. And like so often, after posting this pic, I started getting doubts...
Kevin: I don't think this socket sticks out of the wall more than a centimetre or so. How about starting a thread of 'Sockets Around the World'?
Chad: yeah, I like the reflections too, especially as they are kind of countered by the rough structure of the wallpaper around.
