My video card has two DVI outputs and I currently only use one and also use a Spyder 2 to calibrate. I would like to use two monitors. My wife has the exact same monitor as I and I would steal hers. Can I calibrate both monitors with each having it's own profile? Or would "the" profile be used for both outputs and the added monitor gets the profile of the first? Video card is Nvidia GeForce 8500GT and spyder is the model just below the pro. Tnx.
Assuming its a PC, but even then your OS is needed for the best answer as Windows can be problematic when using two profiled displays. It should work though, but post your OS so people who do it can get the exact info you may need to get it right.
On a Mac (for you or others who may use them) its as simple as System Prefs, Displays, Color and then select the profile for each screen).
On my Mac I had to pay up for a program that would do multiple monitors (Basic Color handles my 5 monitors) instead of a low end Spyder which would only do one monitor. So I think it depends on the program more than anything else.
Using two monitors on one pci express slot in XP is just as easy as any other OS. Install both monitors right click on the desktop>properties>settings>click extend my windows onto this monitor and your set.
Depending on which version of Spyder 2 software you have you may or may not be able to measure the brightness and set them the same, but its just a matter of selecting the monitor you wish to profile from the drop down menu and fallowing the directions.
The Spyder2 web site says that only Spyder2 Pro supports 2 monitors, if the other two versions will only set one monitor just create a profile for each and download the Microsoft color applet and use that to assign the profiles you have made.
I have Spyder2Pro, and have successfully calibrated and used two monitors with separate profiles on both Windows XP and Vista Ultimate (both 32-bit editions) with no problem.
