Lil Judd Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #1 · Scary pictures of a Cormorant in trouble.... Well, I got my "big" lens almost 10 days ago & all I'd had a chance to photograph was my neighbor's backyard & a dying rose in gray rainy skies. So today I took the time to take it on location. I actually had to go to two different locations before I got anything shot. Anyhow, as I'm set up for something - - looking for a willing subject really -- out of the corner of my eye I watch a young Immature Double-crested Cormorant fly in for a landing in a tree, but lose it's footing. Next thing I know this happens..... It was not until I got home that I realized the bird was injured or just got injured... But I can report that it flew off after the last frame.... These are not the best shots of the day. I just needed to share these. It was very traumatic to see the bird was injured when I came home. At first it looked funny - - it was just hanging there. Now I'm kind of sick to my stomach about it. But I was glad to see it get lose & fly off. I hope it will be OK. Tomorrow I'll post better shots which I got with it. I am happy with my first day's shots with it. I thought I'd do poorly - - - - only thing which went poorly was finding birds & then this poor Cormorant. I look forward to your next upbeat posting with your new lens! Karl You're right Karl - - poor bird must have been frantic.... I've seen them land in trees before & they are rather clumsy at times. But this one just really got into a mess. I keep wondering who I should/could call on this issue.... Also, locating the bird will be hard. But it did fly off & hopefully to safer grounds.
