It depends on your intended use. I use a leather bound portfolio with removable acid free sleeves to carry 17" x 22" inch prints. I also use an 11" x 14" portfolio for presentation.

Jerryrock,

Who makes your portfolio? I'm looking for something better than the portfolio that I use now from Itolya. They work ok functionally, but don't have that nice presentation quality that I'm looking for.

Look at Brewer-Cantelmo for portfolios. I doubt it's an accident that they are a block off the Fashion district in NYC. I have one and really love it. Plan on getting a second down the road.

House of Portfolios in NYC www.houseofportfolios.com for the US and www.labookeria.com in Milan for Europe, the industry standard 11x14 black "pleather" book will cost you around 200 us and 165 euro, if you want to go exotic you can order whatever size you want in any color leather and even ostrich skin, my next private book will be A3 size in natural leather, tired of the 11x14 size. I have several books from both places and my oldest one from HoP is 12 years old and still looks good, both places offer custom bags and cases with your name on it in all sizes

I just ordered a pina zangaro portfolio from http://www.officepdx.com/. Their customer service is excellent. They actually check your order to make sure the components you order are compatible. I know this because I ordered one component wrong and they phoned me to let me know they had corrected my order. They have several brands of portfolios to choose from.

I'm mostly using Pina Zangaro lucite books, 11x14 in portrait orientation. I transport them in Tenba padded cases, which are the basic standard here in NYC for having portfolios messengered around town.

I got the padded case also. The whole portfolio is so elegant. I'm very pleased.

Paul -

Yeah, mine are the Vista screwpost. I've got mine in white ("Frost"?) and red. The only thing I don't like about them are the metal hinges, which can gouge an art director's desk if you aren't careful.

i use the Frost series to avoid this problem. the Frost are translucent with leather edge binding of the screw posts.
