I've updated my website. I've been considering going with a blu domain site, but I like the flexibility of making instant updates to the site whenever I want too.
Does the site look professional or tacky and cheap?
I'm going for a blu look, but with a few less whistles and bells.
For those of you with blu sites, can you change things like text descriptions and gallery pics by yourself, or do you have to submit a change ticket to blu, or
Thanks,
Mike
PS. A BUNCH OF YOU ARE LOOKING, BE BRAVE, YOU WON'T HURT MY FEELINGS!
I like your site and don't think anything looks tacky. Wedding slideshow runs nice. My only suggestion would be to give users an option to turn off the music. I didn't see one, but may have missed it. When I look at things at work, I don't want music playing.
I guess I get tired of seeing the same sites over and over...although blu does do some nice looking work. I'm with you, if I want to make a change, I want it to be easy enough for me to do.
Good to see another Michigander, I live in Sterling Heights.
Certainly not tacky. I think you've done a good job. On my monitor, the script font on the front page is difficult to read but other than that, no real gripes.
Pierre.
I'll have to see how to turn off the music using the Swish flash designer.
Personally I hate music on websites. Either it's tacky canned stuff like mine, or you have to ignore copyrights to put something nice on your site. But everyone else has music, so I feel I have too.
Pierre, shouldn't you live in France, not the UK ? I'm surprised you can't read the font, it's embedded in the flash movie. If I hear that from anyone else, I'll have to change it. Thanks.
With bludomain you make all the changes by yourself and it is as easy as ABCD. Once you go live you have total control of your template. A lot faster to manage than what you have now. I used to use simple viewer. It was a pain to make changes to a gallery. If you want to remove a single picture from a simple viewer gallery it would cause you to reload the whole gallery. Bludomain is 100% faster to manage and more user friendly. With bludomain you would be amazed to how much time you would save messing around with your website. At the same time I like your website.
I can read it OK but the edges are not super smooth. I'm using IE on a PC - maybe that's it?
I'm in Guernsey which is an English Crown dependency but not part of the UK or the EU and certainly not part of France. We turned our back on them in 1204 We just kinda sit here in the English Channel closer to France than the UK but governed by neither one of them. Sadly, Fred doesn't have a 'other country - please specify' in the list when you sign up so I went with the UK. More info here:
Guernsey looks like it would be a great place for a photographer to live! What's the weather like? It looks like it might be a bit warmer than Michigan in the U.S, but not tropical. 9c or 10c today. (bout' 50 or so F)?
I'm 50% British, with the remainder being French and German. Perhaps I'll move to Guernsey!
Oka- if you can program in HTML you can easily add single new photos to simpleviewer. I'm able to add single photos, change picture sizes, change where the thumbnails are, change border sizes, etc. It's good to know that blu has an easy interface to do the stuff. Thanks.

Good to know you can do all that in simple viewer. Too late for me now I have moved on.
Yeah, Guernsey is a nice place to live, photographer or not. It's actually not that warm just now, 9C & raining but we had 14C last weekend. Air quality is good with very little light pollution. I shoot mostly in, on and around the sea - see avatar.
Re: Simpleviewer - for those of us not too hot on HTML, there are now automated simpleviewer galleries in Lightroom (as of v1.3). Very easy, very nice.
I do like your site, very classy, nice photography.
I am looking at it from work. 600x800 resolution screen. They say we have a T-1 line, but I tease them that it is really just a T-1/2. But your site loads pretty quickly anyway.
It bothers me (a little), that your navigation changes as I click around your site.
For some reason I had to click each link twice to get it to work.
In your gallery section, some of the photos load and the navigation buttons are pushed off the screen, with no scroll bars.
VB- thanks, As far as Navigation changing do you mean from the simpleviewer pages? I could get busy and put the full compliment of links on those pages.
Some of the issues are caused by viewing 800 x 600. The site isn't full 1024 x 768, but it's close. I should put a 'best at 1024 x 768' msg on the splash page.
The double click thing is annoying. If you notice, there is a thin border around the site before the first click. For some reason the first click is to get rid of that and the second follows the link. I need to do some research on that and see if I can elminate the issue.
I use a BD website and they are basically a drag and drop setup... If you have your images resized then updating your site will be as quick as adding an image to MYSPACE. you have total control over background colors, fonts, and the adding a new gallery is as easy as typing the gallery name and selecting "CREATE"..
