What sharpening works best for 1024 x 768 images with a typical digital projector?
Yes I know it is a dumb question with many answers, but I have to show some photos at an event, and do not have access to the event projector (or one of my own) to evaluate various sharpening levels. Would preparing the images with sharpening that looks good on a monitor at the same 1024 x 768 size be a good choice?
That depends hugely on the size of the projection, the ambient lighting levels and of course the quality of the projector. When I did a short slide shot on the digital projector at the local camera club I oversharpened my shots, yet they never really looked sharp, I used USM 150 1.

Thanks.
I've been projecting slide shows to audiences of 100-300 people for the last five years. Screen sizes range from 10ft to 20ft. I use a 3000 lumen projector with a native resolution of 1024x768 and basically I find that what looks good on my CRT monitor looks good when projected. In fact, I do not perform any special sharpening for slide presentations. I do my normal PS Smart Sharpening on the full-sized image and then I simply run the image through a batch process which resamples it to fit within the contraints of 1024x768. So my sharpening is taking place on the full 10 megapixel image which later gets resampled for the projector.
