The image works for me, but something about it seems to needs rearranging to balance the image better. Sorry not to have any suggestions, but a great idea.
I like the idea, but it seems there are two images and not one composition; maybe too much of a highlight on the two cones? maybe shoot more directly along the twig, putting one group more in the back ground??

I think it would work better flipped, so that the in focus portion was on the left; or if kept the way it is , if it was oriented high to low from left to right so your eye ended on the lower right on the in focus portion instead of the upper right.
All that being said as suggestions, I like the image very much as is.
