I've never seen this one addressed anywhere before
The mom of an child actress (now 8ish), whom I've shot since she was two, called me today asking if she could give the producers of a film images that I had taken of the kid over the years
the kid has a major role in a major film. The images will be hanging in the "home" used in those scenes, like any family may have images of their kid hanging around
anyway ... useage?
this is a major production, big name talent & producers, not a small indie film
My original release on the kid states for her self promotion, as she is a model/actor, the earlier releases don't have any commercial clause, the later ones state no commercial useage, which I've always explained as putting the kids image on a product to sell the product
I doubt the images will be a big part of any scene, just wall decorations in the house scenes
do I charge? if so, is there a calculator? or how do I base my pricing?
Sounds like the prints will be used as props or set decoration. Since you have somewhat exclusive pictures of the kid as a younger kid you may have some leverage. I'd think that somewhere between $250 and $750 depending on size for usage in addition to the expenses.
Be aware that (imo) ALL movie companies are weasels and will try to get the pictures for nothing.
