p.1 #1 · Whatcha shooting the eclipse with?

Assuming the clouds cooperate THIS time, I am planning to go out with my 300-800 5.6 and a set of teleconverters to try for 800, 1120, 1600, and 3200mm shots...

Last time there was an eclipse, I got up at 4AM or whatever time it was to try to get some shots, got to a good spot early....and then fog rolled in...shortly after, clouds came in and I didn't see the moon again. Stupid uncooperative weather....

Tonight isn't looking too good for me either, looking outside it's clouds fully covering the sky, and the weather map shows clouds covering much of the sky in this region. I might end up just sitting in my backyard looking up at the sky and waiting for an opening in the clouds just to get some shots....

I won't be happy if I miss yet another eclipse...I'll have to wait till 2010 for the next one then

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate for others, and they'll get to shoot it.

It's totally clear here. I don't have anything long so I'm just gonna watch.

70-200 mm set at 100 mm, 5D, camera on a tripod and set so every 10 minutes I can take a "progress" picture. When all done, I'll make a composite of 15 or so images.

Took a couple of in-between shots with the lens set for 200 mm

I was planning on making due with my 70-200/2.8, but the heavy cloud cover did not cooperate. Not even a hint of the moon last night. Like you, I'll be waiting another two years. Very frustrating since I learned a few things on the eclipse late last year & was hoping to use that knowledge; hope I remember in 2010.
