Sorry, having a moment Back late summer I was flabbergasted when Apple contacted me to see if they could buy some pictures from me out of the blue, I thought someone was pulling a fast one on me. Low and behold it turned out to be legit. The deal was strictly bird photo's, photos were to be used for tutorials embedded in the software and the remainder to be used in seminars for demonstrations to show how to use the new software. Low and behold, 7 months later, I was forwarded a link to the new software from a buddy of mine yesterday. I had literally no idea they were going to use all my bird photos to launch their new software.
I am just a amateur/hobbyist photographer, right place, right time, stars aligned, got lucky kinda deal, Im bursting at the moment so had to share as many of you have been incredibly helpful in my growth as a photographer for several years. Trust me Im not bragging and I dont want to come across the wrong way, as their are a ton better shooters than me, especially here, but it just goes to show that we all have a chance. There, that is my 30 seconds of fame, back to reality.
Now if my new Aperture software would just show up
Congratulations! This must feel great and, frankly, your shots are wonderful and I'm sure they'll make a great tutorial. I hope you'll get modestly rich (or at least appropriately rewarded) for this. Makes me smile to hear your story.
That's neat and all, but if you sold them rights for tutorials, they're out of line, that's definitely an ad. I'd send them another invoice. They've got something like $15 billion in cash, they can afford it. And ironic that they're buying pictures from a Windows user.
DUDE that is awesome! I got a special email from apple about the launch of the new aperture and immdetialy was amazed by the hummer photos! I thought that it was so cool that they were appealing to the nature photographer. I also thought about who pics they used but had no idea at the time! Congrats!!!!
That is just cool. I showed a friend of mine the newly released aperture and this page in particular and actually told him that I believe there was this guy on the fredmiranda forums that took hummer pictures just a good at this one.
