Jun Zhou - I too wanna get married. I think same sex marriage is legal - thus, if we get married, we could both concentrate our energy and resources in dSLR and lenses! Now, that would be a perfect marriage, where we both have something in common! Nice!

OK. Now this is getting out of hand. We are, shall we say, tolerant and understanding here but this might be over the edge

My house too. My wife let me buy my 5D for Christmas, but guess what? We've been shopping for an "upgrade" to her wedding ring. The one she likes (so far) is $4,000.00. The 5D only cost half that much!

You could sell your 5D to help cover the cost.

Yeah, till you get divorced and he has a better lawyer
WOOHOO!!! me too... I'm getting mine tomorrow as well together with an 85mm f1.8, but I didn't tell my wife about it. She'll know when she sees it. I just got her a pair of Cole Haan boot for her b-day this past weekend so I know she wont complain.

the question is why do you need your wifes permission in the first place?...maybe that is why I am no longer married!
Possibly the same reason I haven't gone ahead and bought myself a new Mac Pro or any number of lenses and accessories. I'd rather be married than not have these things. Not that I don't test her patience with my un-curable gear acquisition syndrome.
Thank God my wife is fitness model...spending money on women stuff may not make her look great, but i can assure u she is able to see the difference between a picture took with 5D over the one from my old 20D..especially those warm natural colors and shallow DOF
what is really funny is that i must be the one who hit the brakes sometimes...
i had a 70-200 f4 and i decided 2.8 would be better...unfortunatelly it was stolen from me and got another f4 as emergency low budgert solution... in the meantime i decided i need to go prime and quit 2.8 aquisition...after that i decided i will stay on what i have right now for a while and spend the money on more important stuff we need...
few days ago i upgraded my computer and i was organizing my 6-700 gb of pictures. she came to bring me a coffe...she saw some old pictures i took a year ago at 2.8...gues what? she said" i think at the end of this month, when we cash our checks, you should order another 2.8..maybe this f4 is sharper but look at those pictures...that is something else..."
yesterday i met one of my photographer friends to test his new 135L...i came home and she saw the samples i took...didn't say nothing but i bet this weekend she will, i saw that look in her eyes....
now i am the one who say "we do not need this right now" i think...need to stay cool and respect priority spending decisions i made few months ago
so, my suggestion guys, exploit woman's need to look great, make them your models this way u get new good stuff as that serve them and their image not you and your passion....and if the glass is too good (that mean sharp) u may be asked to upgrade your junk computer and photoshop 7 ...after all u need to loose those wrinckles near the eyes and we all know that mean advanced processing so a better and faster computer...even a better LCD display, i think Eizo have developed special ones for wrinckle issues
But yesterday i got the postman ring my doorbell with a huge box that needed signing for! Yup, a box big enough to hold a 300F2.8. It was wrapped up and everything, with a nice red bow! My mind raced and my heart lept!
I eagerly tore open the packaging thinking yessssss the gf has been taking all my hints. So i rip it open and look inside. Guess what i got!!!!!
A 3ft inflatable Red Heart!!!!
Lol. Tbh, i actually i really liked it and thought it was a cool little gift!
However, me and the gf are off to New York tommorrow and a trip wouldn't be complete without a quick trip to BH. So i may yet aquire a new toy this week!
Maybe she thinks you've lost focus or need to make a better image for yourself. One could even specualte about why 200 mm? All those are the kind of unusal thoughts which run through the mind of a psychiatrist. Fortunately, I can turn it off and come back to reality which is.....she REALLY loves you. Congratulations on a great lens, and more so for what sounds like a wonderful partnership.

Here's my better half after I gave her a $5 carnation for Valentines day just when the UPS drove up to the house in an untimely fashion to drop off the 300 f/4 I secretely ordered.

Watch out. Either your wife bought a new sports car, or she's about to, or, even more expensive for you she's been reading about how sports moms love 70-200/2.8's for kiddie sports and you've got someting you didn't know about yet on the way...
