My first motorsport event of 2008 and time for a much needed bit of practice! Normally I shoot at around 1/250s but I wanted to experiment at 1/100s and sometimes below since I have never shot a forest rally before. C&C welcome.
Some really slow shutterspeeds there, but the results look good. I really like the second one with the crazy Peugeot - it's nice how the kicked up leaves have been lit by the sun. Also those RWD cars (old Fords etc) are always so much fun to watch
Thanks Pille! As you say those old Escorts are still great fun and quite dramatic to watch and very different to the crazy Subarus and Evos. That 'crazy' Peugeot won the event but it only looks like a Peugeot, everything else is custom built with BTTC race engine and sequential gear box!
While I'm not a huge fan of heavy post processing myself, I do find myself thinking that some shots could use a bit of a boost in contrast and/or a little bit of curve work.
Pretty cool shots for 1/30 and 1/50 second! Getting motion blur just right is a real art (or should that be 'miracle' at 1/30 !) and it's great when it works.
Love the energy in that Evo #9 shot (tho Tentacle is right it could benefit from some pp). But this is inspiring work - #5, #6 and #9 make me want to get out there and try these crazy shutter speeds.
Can't wait for the UK racing season to start!! I'll be at Silverstone on 23 February.
