Yet another flag shot. Sorry about that.
I was waiting for some "real" wind as we often have here in winter but it's been like spring for 10 days...
So many great entries this week.

Hi Julian,

I really like the golden light in this shot, and the composition is very nice. My only thought is you might want to clone out the light pole as it breaks up the shot, IMO. Good luck this week.

Hi Steve !

Thanks a lot for your constructive feeback.
I personally like the light pole and tends to thinks it plays an important role in the picture. I like the "triangle" it makes with the flags and the opposition too.
But like you something was bothering me but I just couldn't figure it out before your comment (watch a photo for too long and you don't see anything anymore ).
And, there it is, your comment made me realize I didn't like the way the left flag was "melting" with the roof (I couldn't get high enough to catch it above).
I feel it balance much better without it, the geometry is clearer, simpler and the picture stronger.

Again thanks you so much Steve !

I agree the light pole should stay. However, you should crop out most that's below those wonderfully lit windows. The dark side on the building reduces the streamlined look of the windswept roof. Maybe even less sky above the light pole--keeping our eyes on the flags and the roof.

Great symmetrical entry,
Chad

Lovely shot, Julien, my friend! I love the pastel color and yet the flags give it a bit of motion. Fine capture!

All best wishes,

Endre

Thanks for the valuable feedback Chad !

I just found out that this kind of geometrical picture are very hard to crop . I've tried lots of things and had a hard time finding a closer (square) crop that worked compositionally speaking. I'm definitely lacking some composition fundamentals here because it's not chance. You had to be precise. Anyway I finally got something that I liked with my laborious approach

Cheers,

Julien

Being a photographer must be like a director having to watch an editor chop out pieces of film. When the photographer must PP their own work it becomes a balancing act between the intented use of the photo and what they saw when the photo was taken.

These WA's kind of force us to be more "commercial". We have a purpose in conveying the theme, and hopefully we can keep most of our individualities intact.

Anyhow, I like the new version better. The same photo, just more focused on the theme of "Wind".

Couldn't agree more Chad !
Maybe not the crop I would have choosen as a personnal photo but for this WA it's really better, totally right.

Hi Julien,

This new crop is really a nice improvement. Much better than taking out the pole as I suggested. I love the symmetry now and the beautifully light is featured even more prominently. Good luck this week.

Not seeing the original, post it sounds like you came up with a great end result! Good composition, color, and show of wind. A real stand out in the thumbnails!

Julien,

What colors! I really like the new crop. It does bring your attention around the shot from the flags to the light on the windows. Good luck this week.
