p.1 #1 · Tundra Swans

Well guys and gals...........ole Ted is back and has another round of images for you . Yup 15 of 'em. Me and my lil missy drove in state to the Middle Creek Wildlife preserve in Pennsylvania to see and capture the migratory Tundra Swans and Snow Geese. I was told dawn was best for the swans and dusk for the geese. The day, gloomy and overcast, best for shooting. Did I mention the drizzle I had to drive about an hour to reach Nirvana. It was well worth the drive. I am told late February and early March is the time to go when up to 10s of thousand of these noisy fowl creatures grace the waterway. I did not have any keepers of the geese this trip.

I started off the morning with my 300 and a 1.4 TC. CC appreciated, the whites are tuff to shoot.

16. Thanks for taking the time to look. I have another 2oo-images to edit from yesterday. I appreciate any and all comments especially the not so positive ones. This was my first time shooting white birds on a grey day so live and learn. Did I say it was cold.

Welcome to my world! Whenever I go to photograph the snow geese and trumpeters I have the same conditions. It certainly makes for difficult exposures on the BIF's. 9,11 are my favorites, I would really like 14 with a different crop to get rid of the flotsam and better position in the frame. The exposures of the swans against the sky look good, 7 would be favorite of them. Too bad the for the grey sky though, kind of dull. Overall I think you did good under difficult conditions.

Hi Ted,

you did well. Main thing with the whites as you know is to check for your highlights. Looks like you did well - - gray skies makes tings a tad easier.... My favorites are # 6 & 9. Though with a slightly different crop # 14 would have been it.... But I'm a little strange (as we well know) on things like that.

I envy you your swans - - grew up with them & do so miss them....

Very nice set. Ted. # 13, and 14, are my favorite. I'm glad to see that the leash didn't bother you while taking the pictures.
Take care my friend,
Socrate

I am in awe, Ted. Love them all.
I will have to go with #11 as a fav as well.
Though I do like #9 and how it seems each one is out of sync with the next.
