Hi Fred, that's a beautiful place to take pics. And you took a good point of view.
1) I think B&W can work very wel here, but you need to get the tones right. This scene asks for more drama, i.e. more midtone contrast and local contrast and some more darknes.(I would love to see this place in a nightshot.)
2) Use some more foreground, it gives you more depth! Even if you need to make a pano for it
3) The picture seams to lean to the right, but I think the distortion helps here. You took the lamppost(apparently) to level the pic, but with this distortion and the post being to the right of the scene, this wasn't the right object. Take one of the pillars in the back in the middle of the pic to do so, then remove the distortion.
Fred I hope you don't mind the critiques, but you asked
If you have the chance, go back and make a winner! This is a place where you can make awesome shots! Think about dusk and nightshots too!
Don't mind at all, that's why I asked--thanks! I can indeed go back, so I'll keep your suggestions in mind. I didn't actually use the lamppost to level the shot, but the row of columns in the back. I do see what you mean about it tilting to the right though.
