I haven't used iPhoto but I've used Aperture. I don't know if there's any difference between the output of the two programs but the Aperture books usually look great. Once, I received one that was printed out of register but Apple replaced it immediately.
I don't know if the final book is as nice as professional wedding companies that make these kinds of books, but I was happy with what I got.
We have had a book out of IPhoto. My wife wanted the book and basically we started with various sized prints, scanned with an Epson 700 and minor tweaks. For the quality of the originals (some were 2x5 instamatic prints) they did a great job.
If you started with good digital files I would bet that it will turn out excellent.
They look great. Well worth every penny. No they aren't Graphi (or any of the premium book printers) but they are really nice. They do look professional, of course if the images aren't quite that good there is no album going to help.
I have had a couple books made and they have been great. The first one I made I never saw but the comments were great. That first book was done while living in Portugal. Very good friends came to visit from California. We are both in to photography and had a couple great days shooting in and around Lisbon.
They left on a Friday and were taking a couple days to get back home. I immediately put together an iPhoto book from some of the shots taken while they were there and the book arrived to their doorstep the day after they got home.
To this day, that book is on or near their coffee table.
Is there anyway that you can get the Iphoto books (the really small ones) without having a MAC? I only use windows software and such, but do you need to use a MAC to use their software to get them?
No. iPhoto is currently only offered on Macintosh. With that said, there are plenty of Windows programs that have similar products. Snapfish by HP has good books, from what I've seen.
Yeah I looked into those, but the only thing is that we are trying to get those mini (2x3) books and they are (3) for $4 from iphoto and $5 (minimum) each from everywhere else.
I was hoping that I could get those iphoto books. My Fiance wants them as our wedding gift to people. I was going to get the prints together and then order them, it almost might make sense to get a MAC just to do this for the cost difference.
Honestly, I can say that you might want to think about that option. My enjoyment of photography and music and even digital video has exploded since I switched to Mac, years ago. I just didn't want to sound like an Apple advertisement, or start that age old debate.
I've not had many of their products that didn't meet my expectations. And they are constantly trying to outdo themselves.
Another option is to find who fulfills their orders and see if you can order directly.
If you want to beef up your Photo, Digital, etc., experience then I have to agreee with Tim's comment. Get a Mac. I use both PC's (at work) and my Mac. For video, audio, and just plain fun there is no comparison. And guess what else? They work, don't glitch, and generally perform beyond expectations. Now, if you are REALLY into spread sheets....stay with the PC.

Why do you have to stay with the PC to run your Excel spreadsheet? You can of course run the Mac version of Office or run any flavor of Windows on your Mac and whatever Windows app you want.
