p.1 #1 · Stock at myloupe

Is anybody getting any sales at myloupe stock library?
I am about to register at myloupe but after checking on other stock sites such as Alamy it is possible to find contributors too various agencies including myloupe but it's hard to find anybody who has actually had a sale. The searching I have done has been on UK sites, I wonder if the guys in the US are doing any better? It may just be a different market.

With so many stock agencies its the name and popularity that determine what works. I've never heard of myloup and I'm a photographer. Stick with the major players who essentially advertise your work for you and already have the attention of buyers.

Ditto that. Stock buyers aren't going to waste their time on small agencies when they can frequently get the same exact images or higher quality ones from the larger houses for the same prices. Stock is a numbers game, so you want your images in front of the largest possible group of buyers.

Stock sales depend on what you shoot . If you aren't shooting relevant subjects you are going to see few sales . Microstock has hurt some stock sales but if you are creative and research a concept before you shoot it you can make some money . Making money on stock also requires an extensive library of images or participation in a speciality library .

I have a very small portfolio (300+ photos) at myloupe, and have had one – 1 – sale, so they do sell something. They're a bit quirky with regards to file sizes (no bigger files than 4.5MB and some strange requirements regarding pixel size), and I think Alamy will give a better return on your invested work. Wherever you go, a large number of images is important. You need that to draw attention to your portfolio.

Jorgen,
how long have you had images at myloupe and do you use other libraries with the same images.

I've been there for two years, but the portfolio I have there isn't great in any meaning of the word. I just recently started adding a few images that I also upload to Alamy.

I believe one of the problems with MyLoupe is that they don't review images. As long as all photographers upload quality images, everything is well, but there are photos there that aren't really good stock photos (in my own portfolio as well).

The same applies to Alamy, who only review for technical criteria, but because they have such a huge amount of images online, they get a lot of attention from designers and such anyway.

Another place that I can recommend, but that has rather low traffic at this stage, is www.featurepics.com. There is a review process, but they are relatively liberal, you set the price of your photos yourself, and they pay 70%. It's a strange mix of microstock and traditional stock there, but they sell my images regularly. It's also easy to link to your portfolio there from your own website.

Here's my referral link if you would like to join:
