Was playing around this weekend with long exposure and a flashlight as the only light source. I plan to re-shoot this one for several reasons: noisy background shadows, slightly underexposed and lack of clarity/distinct sharpness on the glass. Shot with D300, ISO 100, 30 sec exposure, f/14. What are your thoughts??
The majority of the 30 seconds it's on the glass -- moving around (up/down..side-to-side, etc). The blue streaks are from moving the light toward the glass from the side and slightly angled at the camera. As you can see, I did this once on the right, then moved it toward the glass several times on the left. The streaks were actually an accident the first time, but I liked the result and shot a few more like this. I haven't had a chance to re-shoot it yet, but plan to soon to see if I can get better results.
I really like this shot. Contrary to the problems you noted, I personally like the abstract nature here and think it works very well. I like how the uniform shape is broken with the bright light and contentedness of the entire shot. Well Done
