Not much considering the money just going to be printed by the Fed, therefore devaluing the money. Oh yeah, and next year, you'll have to pay taxes on the "rebate." Be smart and pay off debt.
I'm with you on the 'printing more money' thing, I'm sure it's how Junior is funding the war. https://www.fredmiranda.com/hosting-data//3590/839330.gif
It's simply asinine, thinking that half the people won't pay off debt with the money. I just can't believe it's come to this!
Well... I am trying not to think about the concept of a "refund" for people that didn't pay tax and how paying your credit cards with credit actually works but since it hurts my head.....
Speaking of heads.... I have been planning on buying a tripod & ball-head anyway.... The hard part is figuring out what the h*ll I want It will be my part of the spending okay
night crowd = tough crowd !!! OK, I'll start - I for one am eyeing the 40d. Was going to wait for the 450d and save a few bucks, but now with the devalued, debt paying, taxable, unqualifiable-if-you-make-too-much-money uncle sam refund, I think I will splurge for the 40d and not have to wait for the 450d.

Watch out for the promises of good things...atleast it isn't a job in India to have your kidney stolen?
They only want the money to go right back into the system...I agree fully with everyone who says to pay off the bills first and by that time the camera bodies will be less in cost, a win-win option?
My friend's dad was CEO for one of the nation's top 10 Savings&Loans banks during the 80s/90s. He still keeps in pretty regular contact with some of the big players. We all call him the oracle.
His advice (not in any order):
1) Diversify investments
2) Avoid making unnecessary purchases
3) If you have been planning a large purchase, consider doing sooner rather than later and finance it.
Although the dollar has devalued in recent months, it is still relatively strong today. Many big manufacturing industries have pricing contracts with suppliers that have prevented a massive upswing in production costs. As these contracts renew, companies will pass these costs on to consumers. Today is quite possibly the most purchasing power you're going to have for the next few years (especially if your annual raise is outpaced by inflation).
So, as an example, if you're car is at the end of its life, consider buying a Pre-Owned car now rather than waiting. There's plenty of selection, interest rates are low, and inflation will lower your purchasing power in coming years. As the economy recovers, any remaining debt will seem like less of a burden as salaries, and purchasing power begin to increase.
My wife is getting the tax refunds, I get this one. Thinking of a 40D (I had heard a possibility of $1200 for people who file jointly with their spouse) or a BH-40 LR II ball head and 580EX II OR sell my XTI and 17-55 2.8 and get a 5d kit(well the XTI goes bye bye with either camera). Not sure which one would be best. There are other options, but these are my top 3 photo related ideas. Of course I could pay off my bills, but whats the fun in that. That is what my quarterly bonus is for anyways.

Wouldn't that be like saying he was CEO at one of the top 10 sub-prime mortgage companies today? Not exacatly something I would think one would want at the top of their resume, and certainly not someone I would look to for financial advice.

It's for people who earn so little that their payroll taxes (medicaid, ss) are plenty of burden. If you earn so much that you won't get a rebate, you have no cause to complain. You've been getting plenty of services from the government throughout your life.
