I call these kinds of splashes "swans." One makes them by blowing a bubble on one side of the target milk drop---they are very easy to repeat.

Lovely shots- Like the asymmetry of these.
Have to admit that with the trigger word swan in my head- my first thought with #1 was a bird plop

Thanks John. Dann, I do use the hiviz kit. I have also had issues with reliability. The problem is usually with the 555 or 556 timer. The potentiometers don't sit very well in the breadboard either. But now after replacing some parts, everything is working.
