p.1 #1 · "White fire", Roque de los Muchachos

"White fire"
Captured on La Palma (canarian islands) at around 2300 metres above sea level (with a Canon 5D + 24-105L lens).
You can see that the pictures was taken way above the clouds. There was a big fire which burned down a massive amount of bushes. Because of the shape of the bushes (plantago webbii) it still looked like fire.
White flames…White fire.

Interesting capture. I like all the different textures. I wonder if you could get a slightly different angle tjhough. The almost centered horizon makes this look quite static and the black foreground is a bit distracting but can be cropped off a touch.

I agree with Ute, this is interesting and I too would like to see a different composition without the horizon being centered.

amoergosum,

I appreciate that you shared this photo and the 'backstory' or details of where it was shot and what we are seeing. I enjoyed seeing it.

The clouds (white) and the bushes (white) do make an interesting pair.

I have a suggestion for you. Try cropping to a tall and relatively narrow vertical format and convert to BW. I think the contrast of the white on white with gray would make an interesting final image based on this shot. The texture contrasts are there already.

The far right side of the image has some nice structure at the foreground. That is what I think would be nice for the bottom of the suggested crop.
