p.1 #1 · Winter, Cape Cod

I just joined this forum and wanted to post something, so bear with me! This panorama is made up of 3 photos and was taken at Chatham, Ma. with Stage Harbor to the left and the North tip of Monomy Wildlife Refuge to the right.

Nice pano. Perhaps with a bit more contrast would help it "pop" a bit.

This is with a bit more contrast. I printed and matted another version of this with the contrast boosted and the saturation increased to bring out the dune grass a bit. It looks a lot better than what I have here. Not as washed out.

Welcome to FM!

It is great to see you posting. One more thing on this pano, it is unlevel if you check the horizon, it tips to the left a bit. My question for you on this, is what is this shot saying to you?

Look forward to more of your shots.

I’ve been lurking here for some time and I have really developed a great admiration for the amount of talent on display in these forums.
I’m not sure that I see the horizon as off level. To me it seems that the photo flows from the left side. The dunes were higher and closer on that side and with the beach curving away to the right it seems to define the horizon line above it making it seem to be off a bit. I’m not sure about that though.
The photo has a lot of connotations as I look at it. Of course solitude comes to mind first. But there is a lot of tumult in the photo with the storm clouds and the wind pushing the ocean onto the beach. So even with the solitude there is no quiet. I think that’s what draws me to this spot. The biggest thing it says to me is: “get off this cold beach and into someplace warm you fool!!”.
I had great fun making the photo, and after all, that is the point of this whole exercise.
