Nice Ted! Nice you had your camera handy. Great captures. Love those eyes. It kind of looks like a Redtail puppet show. That first shot is not what you want to see when you're trying to get something to eat at the feeder. Yikes!
Thanks Mark. It's always ready on the weekends. Three more basketball games coming up this week.

Love the "look" in the first one Ted.
You're lucky.... I was out riding/exercising my two horses, one ponied (on a lead) next to the one I was riding. When I come upon either a red tailed or red-shouldered hawk. I was less than 10 feet from the bird which could not have cared less about me & the horses. It did look at us, but went back to scanning the ground for pray. I was furious - - no camera whatsoever, not even a little P&S.
Now I'm riding with a camera, but I've not been that lucky again. I'm so upset. It was the perfect photo opportunity & no camera. With my luck it'll not ever happen again. I might as well give up & go back to a P&S camera.
Very nice Ted - I have them circling over the yard and am waiting for the day when I can call the kids to the window so they can watch one of the hawks munching on a squirrel
Ted, you are a lucky man to have such a curious visitor to your house. Like the others here have already said, that look (with the left eye) in shot #1 is just great. I have to agree, I think he wanted to watch the game.
Unfortunately, my luck is much like Karl's. By the time I grabbed my camera, he would have been gone. But, I suppose, my luck is probably better than Karl's cardinal!
I would sure love to have one of these guys come pay me a visit like that. Next time he stops by to see the game, if you don't mind, could you give him my address?

Did you share your buffalo wings
Thanks Gero, had I shared, the hawk might have posed longer for me.
