After reading all the fiasco with Karen and Kiki’s threads in the past months, I just received 2 spams from Karen. Here are the exchanges regarding the spams:
>Hi, Ben Chen!
You're getting this email because you are a Member of the forums here and you
meet the qualifications to participate in the Professional Forums at PWP.

Please take me off your spam list.
>Ben,
Thgis is not a "spam" list. You are a registered memeber of PWP Forums and this is an admin email from the forum. If you want to no longer receive emails from PWP, then you need to go to your user cp and change your settings so that you no longer receive admin emails.
Again, this email is from your membership at a board you signed up for. It is not spam.
Thanks,
Karen

>>Ben,
You are mistaken. You signed up for membership on the board. You will need to change your settings on your membership to decided to receive email or not.
You cannot be "spammed" from something you signed up for.

I am being spammed when you unilaterally change the term form free to pay site. I no longer wish to be associate with your forum.
Come on guy, you can simply go into your control panel and change the settings. So unwind the twist in your shorts and do it. Karen is right, you are not being spammed if you signed up for the site and allowed administration e-mails. And the site has every right to change their method of operation and notify you.
Spam is when you get e-mail from people you did not sign up with.
You get no sympathy from me on this issue since all you had to do is change your settings and it would have ended right there.
I just read your links and it is obvious that Karen is not a nice person. But unless you have tried, amd failed, to reset your e-mail settings on the site in question you still do not have a valid spam complaint. However if you did reset the e-mail settings and continue to get e-mail from her then you have a valid complaint and can go to her ISP and get her in trouble; possibly get her kicked off her ISP.
You can get a free trial version of NeoTrace at their website that will let you find out who her ISP is. But be careful that you are sure of the grounds of your complaint before you file it with her ISP or it will be you in the hot water.
Agreed, you've been told how to stop it so spend three minutes and solve your problem. I'm sure that will be quicker than sending multiple emails to her.
FYI, I have not been active on her forum for years. I do not remember my password any more. Nor do I feel I should be hassled years later.
Furthermore, I believe once she unilaterally changed the term from when I signed up years ago as a free site to currently a pay site, I should be considered no longer a member. In fact, she had locked me out all areas of the forums. In any court of law, the term of the contract has been changed by one party only and there should be no more agreement; thus I am no longer a member and she is not entitle to email me to fatter her pockets.
Ben, I am sure there is a way to recover your password. Since you seem unwilling to visit the site and change your settings, I am wondering if being right is more important to you than getting the problem resolved. Sometimes life is just more pleasant when we stop worrying about whether we are right or wrong and just agree to disagree and move on. Karen doesn't believe she is spamming you. You believe she is. The reality though, is that I am sure you have spent more time emailing her and posting this post than it would have taken to actually resolve the issue. Some issues are worth standing your ground and battling. For example a damaged reputation, criminal charges, a loss of significant assests, and things of those nature. This does not seem to be one of those situations, but I guess it is to you.
And in court, my guess is that she could demonstrate that you were given an easy way to resolve the issue which you refused to do, so the court would not be very sympathetic to you. Of course, with courts, you can never be sure of anything (I work in the legal system and while it works most of the time, sometimes I just scratch my head).
OTOH, maybe you enjoy conflict, in that case you are actually enjoying this whole situation anyway.

Wow dude. You need to get over yourself. The site was changed to a pay forum a year or two ago. So no, she didn't change the rules on you.
Just change it and move the heck on. Geeeeeze and good Lord......... You found a need to post this on a different forum
I have heard from some of my friends that have received the same emails. While it may not be "spam" in the strictest definition (I'm not an attorney) it is unsolicited email trying to sell something. Consequently it smells pretty "spammish" to me.
What is so typical of her though is instead of simply apologizing to Ben Chen, Karen immediately wants to engage him in an argument over her right to do this!
From what I have been told by them (In an effort to "shoot the messenger" Simmons banned me just before she started collecting money from PWP subscribers for the forum and workshops.) the PWP forum is a virtual ghost town these days. Since the "issue" over the unaccountability of almost $20K in investor funds and other payments even her most staunch supporters have from what I have been told distanced themselves from her. These ladies have had serious issues themselves ("lost" camera equipment found later in Simmon's possession for one) and posted about them on DWF. From what I know, the body of subscribers have either left or are sitting back silently waiting for the legal issue to play itself out. In the middle of this huge legal question over missing funds, in my opinion, you'd have to be an idiot to send any money to Ms. Simmons for PWP.
You're absolutely right Rick. Karen should have just removed him from the list, but to come to another forum and complain is ridiculous....*to me* Both sides are petty, silly, childish, etc.

Just my opinion.
Rick
I totally agree with Rick, it's spam, I got the same email after NEVER thinking I would ever hear from them again. They gave me a free month membership (or whatever it was) and, well....the forum stinks. I thought I was done with it, and I got another email saying, "come back FREE for another month"........ummm no?
Honestly, I think they are going down hill fast. If you look, there wasnt ONE post in the weddings forum for about a month. Now they want to give me a "cheaper rate" if I sign up now.
In your mail client just define it as spam and watch it automagically disappear to the delete bucket. Better still, add it to the blacklist on your mail server and your client will never see it.
I got the same email. I don't remember signing up, but maybe I did. If I did, it was about 6 months ago. I just assumed that if I didn't pay, I wasn't a part of it. I actually get the same type of emails from the DWF. I only peeked in one day, and that was it. I would just try to login and if you forgot your password, ask for it. Get out and don't look back...As for me, I have no desire to to go another forum at this time. I am spending way too much time on this one as it is. Besides, I've kinda got use to you guys...
