p.1 #1 · Theler Wetlands variety (7)

Went out to Theler Wetlands in Belfair, Wa. with a fellow FM'er Bob Lund. We saw a pretty good variety of species--the light was not good so there were not pictures of all--but a pretty good day.
All taken with the 40D as the MKIII is back in Va.

All very high ISO--1000-1600
1.This guy flew closer to us, so as to make sure they were in the picture.

5. Spotted Towhee followed us along the trail. Remarkably tame here. Mine at home are very shy.

I like the last 1 a lot! I think he had its eyes on some fish :-) Great detail too...may I ask what lens?

The blackbird and the heron were taken with the 300/2.8 + 2X TC, Towhee and pheasant with the 1.4 TC. There was not a lot of light. The 40D did pretty well under the conditions, definitely not as good as the MKIII--but not bad!

I really like the Towhees Bonnie, especially the second one, the color and detail are excellent. Also like the GBH, both sides of it.

Bonnie, Well done, The Toweys there are more tame there. I have a wild one in my yard as well, but he is impossible to photograph. I got a nice image of one at Theler last year. Bruce

These are gorgeous, the light worked to your advantage I think, exposures are great. Congrats on the closeup of the towee, that's got to be one of the prettiest birds ever.

Bonnie,

Love the shots and the back side of the Heron really cracked me up. That's the daily shot I get when they see me anywhere nearby.

The Towhee shots are absolutely stunning with detail and color!! The eyes say it all and man are they colorful and sharp!! Great job and what a beautiful bird!!
