Great series pareet - especially your documentation of the lions with the hippo. That first male lion shot is very nice - I like the the effect of the fog - gives it a mystical aura and reminds me not to walk through the woods over there...
Ditto for me

Nogorogoro is unique no matter what time of the year one goes. I had been going there since 1997 and there are always surprises in the interaction of the animals. Never been lucky to see an encounter between hippos and lions...great shots.
Attached is an image of the Crater last May...it was all covered with flowers of various colors.

Beautiful images, Pareet. The location is wonderful, but you managed to get the best possible shots.
Could you please indicate what was the gear used.

i just got back myself. wonderous place!
yeah, seeing lions interacting with a hippo is quite something.
i was glad we got to see a serval (two actually).
we almost never made it to the crater though as an elephant blocked the road, moved, ate, blocked the road, etc. turned and glared us down, ate, blocked the road, haha. finally a truck came the otehr way and it moved off. exciting.

Thanks for sharing these shots from Ngoro Ngoro Crater. I've seen several programs about it & especially about the situation with the lion there. They're in a very special situation as there a very few "outside" lion finding their way in so they've very inbred. Dangerous situation for them. Very interesting to know.
Thanks for sharing these shots. I think you can fix the horizon in Photoshop. Try that...
Hippo sequence is very interesting. B&W shot is wonderful.

Thanks very much
The gear used was a D200, 70-200 2.8 with a 1.7X TC, 10-20mm Sigma and the most important of all - a beanbag !!
