OMG Ledge Lighthouse off New London, Ct! Have raced by her many times. The best shot of her I've seen ever - just suburb! That harbor is so cluttered & busy; how'd you do that?

Thank you Smurph. I got lucky. It was so windy that I guess not too many people were sailing. I know wind is good for sailing....but.....the cold wind almost blew me off the rocks I was standing on. Oh....that 10 stop ND filter helped too.
Many thanks Barry. The 10-stop ND filter can do some interesting things to photos. I need to learn to calculate the exposures because today I did it on a hit or miss basis. Many were hits.......but the misses are a pain because you have to wait so long between shots.
Beautiful shot. Where exactly was this taken from? (I know New London, CT) The reason I ask is because I spent a weekend in New London/Groton area where one of my friend's grandparents have a place right on the water. I wish I came home with a shot like yours.

Yes it is. You must compose the photo first and then screw on the filter. When the filter is on the lens if you look through the viewfinder.....you see dead black. You might as well have the lens cap on. After a while it becomes routine.

This was taken from the Groton side of the river. I was standing in front of this huge house at Eastern Point Beach. Right at the top of the rocks and a few feet in front of that beach. The area is open to the public this time of year. During the summer it's only open to Groton residents.

Too crazy. If you were to look to the east, on the other side of the beach, there are two houses, the second one (with the small jetty in front) is my friend's place. Such an awesome area to spend a weekend and relax in the summer time.
