p.1 #1 · Newbie question on color space

I do not have my own printer and am sending my images to local labs. The labs are asking to have images in sRGB. So my question is should I do all my PS editing in sRGB or should I do the editings in ProPhoto and put the finished image in sRGB before sending to the labs.

Your advices are highly appreciated.

Hmmm... I was under the impression that your workspace should be sRGB if you are going to output to sRGB. Wouldn't color correction be pointless if you are working in ProPhoto but outputting to sRGB, because the colors wouldn't correspond?
Also, why would working in ProPhoto be of any benefit, since nothing but the highest end monitors can display such a wide color gamut? I would think working in sRGB would be the best idea for most people, unless you have a wide-gamut monitor with a 10-bit plus LUT, in which case Adobe RGB would be preferred.

You can make more finite corrections in the larger color space and then your work can then be converted to the smaller color space for printing, etc.. You're much less likely to wind up with banding in skies, etc. utilizing this technique.

Hope this helps - Frag
