One of the little features that abound in the river that flows through Glen Etive. I had passed it and missed it's detail several times, before going there with Dimitri on a moody, typically Scottish day of rain, snow, fitful sun and shifting wind-blown clouds. The conditions saturated the look of the bracken and heather.
What a nice place! I like the yellows, browns, and greens in here.
And the blur of the waterfall is just right. There's something I can't
put my finger on: the foreground looks weird, something to do with
the perspective maybe. Or as if painted onto a flat surface. Do
you see what I mean? It's not bad though. I like the overall detail,
a result of the open shade I guess.
Lovely scene, it might help to get some of that orange out of the image, if you could bring out the grey in the rocks and I think it would work better. Maybe all the light reflected off the bracken is providing a colour cast and altering the colour temperature may help in this respect.
What really draws my eye is the scene on the left, it seems to provide enough visual ideas to stand alone. The waterfall is captured beautifully and I think this is the focus of my interest.

I have some sympathy with the remarks of Jane.
And I would crop left and right .. leaving in the whole tree on the left and removing the right hand branches on the other side as they lead my eyes off the image.

PS Could you tell us what lens you were using. Thanks
Wonderful image, Martin. It really draws you in. I to can image the bubbling creek as it flows by. Bringing up the mid grey tones a tad would likely balance out the abundance of orange one sees throughout but honestly this comp is well balanced and stands on its own.
