I took this picture tonight after an unproductive evening of sitting in the blind.
Just before dark I heard an owl.
After the sun set, I went to see if I could locate it.
The picture is horrible, but, it's a 20D, ISO 1600 on a 135mm lens from far away in the dark.
If someone knows what type of owl this is, I'd appreciate the ID.
Thanks,
Tim
Besides the distinctive "hoot" of the Barred Owl, and the feather markings/coloration - a really quick way to eliminate many other owls is that the Barred Owl has black eyes! Many/most owls have yellow eyes. The Barred is not the only owl with black eyes but fewer owls have them.
I agree - your photo is a Barred Owl.
