Wee,
I have checked with Pete Ganzel ( [email protected] ) re modifying the 50mm f1.2 Rokkor MD. He says that he would have no problem modifying this to Canon Eos mount. He has done many to Pentax M42. Once adapted it may not be returned to its former state.
Pete did my 58mm f1.2 Rokkor MC conversion and he did a very nice job.

Jack & Wee,
If Pete can do it, maybe I can too. It is on it's way here and I plan to evaluate it when it arrives. If I am not confident in doing it, then at least we know Wee has another option. Thanks for that.
Cogitech,
Pete, like yourself would be very glad to swap any hints with you I am sure. He has done it on his website in the past.
Glad to see that you are taking on the task.

Thank you cogitech for pointing us to this lens (again). It is impressive as f/1.2 lenses usually has a lot of local flare around high contrast details. I checked the 50/1.2 and 58/1.2 battle and the bokeh produced by 58/1.2 looks good. Maybe I should try to get hold of one of these lenses. Chunky glass apparently!

Keep in mind that 50 / 1.2 MD has poor bokeh but it is razor sharp.
In the mentioned battle between the lenses the 50 was sharper, yes. But not by a whole lot, and not in the center wide open. And sharpness is overrated imo; we are living in the times of oversharpening. Between bokeh and "sharpness my choice is bokeh.

Word! My best work are usually soft. I hardly ever sharpen my photos.

Can all Minolta lenses be converted to Canon EF?
Also wide angle lenses like MD 2.8/20?

No. Err... not easily or without some serious tools. Anything is possible, I suppose, but at some point the effort outweighs the benefits. The effort-to-benefit ratio on the 58/1.2 is *extremely* good and it only requires simple household tools.

I'm searching for a 20 mm lens (and a fisheye) with as good as possible flare control and a nice sun star.
In my tests I have not considered Minolta lenses because I did not know of the possibility to convert it.
So you say it's not so easy to convert the 2.8/20, right?
If it would have extraordenary good flare control it would be worth some effort for me.
But I don't know about the flare control of the 2.8/20 yet. I will have to do some research ...

Bjorn Rorslett likes the 20 mm f/3.5 Nikkor AIS (52 mm filter size) for flare control, but he's not fond of the field curvature. He uses it specifically for shooting into the sun. Both the Nikon 20s look pretty damned good on your page, as well. Why look elsewhere?
Well, if you have tested and learned so much about flare of 20 mm lenses and you get to know that there might be another option ... you can get to a point where you just "want to know" ;-)
Just got the Rokkor-X PG 58/1.2 I won on eBay. Already converted to EF mount. Comes with original case, hood and Poliz. filter, What a piece of glass. And the bokeh looks wonderful though I haven't had much of a chane to use it yet. Also mounted it on my MK III - works fine there too. Highly recommended.
You converted it yourself or it was pre-converted? Great lens it looks like. You guys are really tempting me - I've already tried to bid on a few on ebay but so far I'm really conservative about how much I want to spend on it.

The price has gone up alot since october-november last year.
Around 250$ is not unusual for a lens in good condition.
