Bodie is so enchanting and close to everything that's awesome on the eastern side of the Sierras it's impossible to not visit.

Was that shot through the glass, Jay? Really crisp! A quick look at their site seems to imply that building access has gone the way of Bodie's original residents.

hasn't changed in 25 years since I first went there (arrested decay means theyfix these buildings up as they fall apart)

faded slide scan from 1989

really cool place - I was going to visit this April but the weather turned nasty that day

antoher one from 1989

Wow. For a minute, I thought I had posted one of my Bodie images. Looking thru that old wavy glass is something you should all get to do. I was there and made a couple of exposures thru the class, and a fellow said" You aren't going to get much, just look at that glass, and how dark it is". Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I think, everything is still right where they left it. That one image is full of still life's .There is another store like it in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, at the Fred Harman museum. Remember Red Ryder?

"The Great Dobransky" is back in business with his little spot just six nautical from HQ. Our timing was good this morning, caught him heading out in the VTail. He is flying a P210 out of DBI II .............Yikes!! No problem for a stepper!

I'm guessing RWY27 is right to left as we're looking at this?

This is great, Jay. It's been too many years since I've been, but do the buildings have a lean, or is the horizon tilting a bit? Even if they are actually leaning, I would be tempted to see what they look like "corrected," with the added bonus of that left hill getting a bit taller, so the eye rolls right through the frame even more dramatically.

Don't know why you're seeing a lean...

Everything in Bodie is squared up and plumb!

I'm guessing that the camera was pointed uphill a bit or the pan head wasn't quite level: under those circumstances stitching a pano can leave you with a subtly sinusoidal horizon line.

Um, I was the "pan head" so I guess that's probably the cause...

Hard to stay completely registered through 200 degrees, by hand.
