Truth be told, you were probably no more than 100 yards from dry land.

Speaking of drones, did you guys see that the FAA's $10K fine for a guy using a drone for commercial purposes was dismissed by the NTSB? They concluded the drone was a model aircraft and the FAA had no jurisdiction.

I've wondered about this FAA drone issue too. Any R/C plane could be considered a drone if they really wanted to split hairs, so what makes these any different? As far as fining people for commercial use, again people have been using R/C helicopters to video for years as well. This really isn't any different either. Steve's shots from above show what they are capable of. I would love to get some fly around video of our jets like that.

Thanks Wrei, changed the Flickr settings.

Ok, giving Flickr a try. AirNZ on finals to Christchurch International a few days ago. Nikon D300s and Tamron 300/2.8 hand held at Apet Mode at F10 I think the settings were.
Nikon Raw Image processed in Nikon NX2.

here, hope this helps...from your image, click the box with the arrow, then the pin, then above the address window (the biggest highlighted area) select a size (usually 800 pixels on the long side), then cut and paste the entire contents of the address bar in to your message here. I've highlighted the three parts that you need to use.:

I think that's the issue, in reverse. FAA is saying that both R/C model planes and "drones" are Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The judge disagreed. The FAA has a voluntary advisory that applies to model planes. There is nothing enforceable about it.

I selected the image, then I double clicked on the enlarged image and got this box:

I clicked on "Large" to select the size and got this:

I double clicked on the image to select "copy image address"

Pasted the image address in the Fred Miranda 'Reply box': (I added a space after the period before 'jpg' to show you the address)

Like this: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3582/12996090635_3fa9826464_b. jpg

and got this:

Yeah, there are 5 20mm guns, 4 AIM 9 sidewinders and 4 AIM-7 Sparrows. The load crew wanted practice and thought this would be cool.

To my mind "Drones" are autonomous and fly with little to no human control.

A GoPro carrying quad copter being used to shoot a house real estate agent is NOT a drone if Joe Schmo is standing in the front yard with the Futaba in his hands.

RPV, UAV, Aerial Camera Carrier Thingy, whatever you want to call it, but it's not a "drone"

I have read of F-4s (cannot remember which model) flying with 3 20mm guns. We got the gun so we could participate in William Tell at Tyndall AFB, FL.

Jay, the USAF drones (predator) have a pilot who 'flies' the drone with a weapons operator sitting next to him at the console. The big difference is they are not in visual sight of the vehicle, they are completely remote.

Jay, as penance for making the rest of us very jealous, I'm assigning you the task of counting the rivets on that C-17.

Dayum, that's sharp.
