Send Trenchmonkey (Will) a PM, that's his neck of the woods. He shoots flying things like this:

and rodeo as well. About 135 miles to the south, you can also visit White Sands National Monument.

In about 3 weeks I will be in Socorro, New Mexico (75 miles south of Albuquerque)for 4 days. I will be attending a class there but hope to have time before and after class. Is anyone familiar with this area? Any suggestions on things to see or places to go with the camera?

Edit for TOPP, sorry, no aircraft though. Any time I've had free time, the skies have turned gray.

On our most recent AzAP trip to NAFEC, I was determined to play with my 24-70 lens and try some slow shutter speed/wide-angle panning. I even employed my tripod and the leveled/smooth ballhead for some of the experiment. I thought there might be some interesting images to be captured that close to the aircraft using a wide angle lens.

It was an interesting exercise inherent with problems - primarily keeping the entire T-45/Growler/Prowler in focus. Even switching from auto to manual focus did not improve my "keeper" rate. My yield of usable images did not improve until I started using faster shutter speeds. I normally attribute the "focus" problems to my shaky hands; however, when the back of the aircraft was tack sharp and the front half out of focus (and visa/versa), I'm thinking the wide angle and slow shutter speeds combine for some type of parallax issue (read wild guess). Why that problem disappears at 1/1000th compared to 1/30th escapes my very small brain.

Here is a borderline "all in focus" image that turned out better than most. I was sooooooooo frustrated by this experience that I processed this image with some serious gusto and enthusiasm for the sliders. I therefore call it….

"If we cool people down by a number of degrees Celsius ... we slow down the rate by which cells — particularly brain cells — are undergoing their own process of death, because we have to remember that cell death takes place through chemical steps. So, from our high school chemistry days we all know that chemical reactions need heat, and if you take away the heat, that slows down the chemical reaction."

The new hypo hyper thermia units on the market also address the link you provided. Use to be just cooling and heating .. www.somatco.com/Gaymar%20Medi-Therm_D200-65.pdf They now offer different rates of cooling or warming for new protocols.

Thanks Jim. It is always fun to experiment. My frustration comes from not understanding and learning from the failures. In this case, I've got some more head-scratching to do.

With the ebb and flow of the blustery weather, I felt like this future F-18 driver was trying to honor Messrs. Beckman and his professional alias. Not sure how his IP felt about the tribute

Reviewing photos in my LR Catalogue I found this one, don't know if I posted it. This was Endeavor on the Shuttle Carrier A/C leaving the 17/35 runway to the taxiway at Ellington Field, Houston, TX. Endeavor was on it's last flight to El Paso, then CA. If you look closely, you will see the Flt. Eng. flying the Texas Flag signaling the distress of the NASA manned space program. The flag is flown upside down. As they neared the parking area, where, the media was located, he must have decided to change the flag to the correct orientation. (I am sure there were some "NASA Honchos" down there.

Thought I was lucky to get the A/C configuration head on with the wind blowing the flag crosswind.

The Bosque, is something you want to check out, take your looong lens. There are platforms, to work from and the wildlife is great to se, and photograph. There is a neat Brew-pub, in Socorro, that has great pizza. The VLA, s where they are looking for life, out there in the Cosmos.
