I would sure like to give that a try. It is a far piece from what commercial flights have become.

That is the truth Joe! The sheer comfort is so nice, but the fact that you are at 410-510 but the cabin pressure is just over 3,000' makes a huge difference. You climb out so much faster and get better routing, then there's that .925 mach thingy.......

Sure makes it tough to adjust to "27B" the next time though.

Indeed Gero, I wish that I could have spent more time in Norway, so much to see and do. The pace was so delightful compared to what our typical day to day is here in the states, it was a real treat. I used to think, "I'll come back here in my "Golden Years", um, but I'm realizing that I am in my Golden Years!

Man, everyone must just be trying to survive the summer, pretty quiet around here. We have about six weeks here in Texas before the days become more tolerable, it's a tough go for now. The older I get, the more I have to remind myself that I'm not 30 anymore so I have to shoot smarter when I can.

I haven't gone to any shows since July 4th. There were a few within 350 mile radius but the lineups weren't worth the time and long drive. So I resorted to shooting hummingbirds in my yard.. There is a high probability I will go to the Sanicole show in Belgium again this year, F-35s, Eurofighter, Tornado, Gripen, Red Arrows, two classic Swedish fighter jets, P-38, the ME 262 replica from Germany, and a bunch of other performers that are less interesting to me . There will be a sunset show and a day time show. If I end up going, I will miss the Oceana show this year.

I didn't know there will be a Grand Prix race right here in DC on Aug 22-23. Now all the tickets are gone. I need to find out where I can shoot without the fence blocking. I have never been to a car race.

Street races, you're not missing much of anything (IMHO), especially if you want to take racing pictures. People watching/pictures would be off the charts but the rest is nothing special. Throw in some heat and humidity and it'll be miserable. The same weekend there's an IMSA race at VIR which will be miles better for picture taking and if needed one can find a shade tree.

Thanks for sharing this, what an interesting video. I know some aircraft photographers would also find this information useful.

Douglas, I have no doubt that you could capture something incredible in DC. I have been given unlimited press credentials for the race, but unfortunately i have a conflict and can’t make it work, wish I could transfer them to you.

Thank you for the link! Very helpful for a first timer. I may go check out the locations on Friday so I will have a better idea where to go on Sat and Sun.

Thank you Jim! I am hoping to capture the race with some famous landmarks in the background. May be very tough if I have to stick the lens though the fence openings, hard to change angles.

I shot Moto GP through a chain link fence for a day, you couldn’t tell it was there, but I was right up against it . Mostly 600/4 and 800/5.6

I watched the video and "consulted" with ChatGPT, I think I will have the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 on one camera, and the Sony 300 f2.8 or the new Sony 100-400 F4.5 on another. I will get rubber lens hoods to press the lens as close to the fence as possible so the mesh is less visible in the frame. I will go to on Friday to scout for shooting locations for average Joe Blow.
