J-A, here's one of the same RI ANG C130. It would have been nice to catch her in Europe, but unfortunately this was in RI (2009);

Killer Moment Brian!

One suggestion if I may...? Since you've got nice, straight, stark lines along the trailer, I'd take advantage of that and clone out the car nose at camera left. To my eye, that breaks the "box" into which the Helo is being "tucked."

Its like a little "frame leak" if that makes sense?

Also tried the 300 with the new 2.0 ext type III I think not to shabby even with gloomy weather.

It's funny, as I cloned out a tait on that side too. Not sure how I missed that but will give it a whirl today.

Another week has come and gone - no airshows - no high tech or unusual AC to shoot here in Easton, MD

Maryland State Troopers / Aviation branch using Trooper 8 doing some insertion and extraction hoists along with basket handling last Thursday .. I'm sure this is just on-going training and had little to do with the Washington D.C. Naval Yard shooting as it all appeared to go smoothly indicating * refresher training * as there were A BUNCH OF THEM ...... they went up in groups of 3 taking turns going down and back up and then handling the basket ........ then they'd all sit down - buckle up and set down and a new group would go up and do it all over again .. and that helicopter didn't very a foot as I had my camera set up and I wasn't recomposing due to the AC moving .. rock solid and steady !!

Then today these folks were at the airport
This guy will be back next weekend if the weather holds ..

And this guy dropped off his passengers in St. Michaels Friday - then flew up and spent the following 2 days on land and were off to pick em up again -- tall young pilots - Bermuda dress / well tanned - long shorts - shirt - tennis shoes matching uniforms .......

pretty nice gig I bet .. Cessna 208 out of Farmingdale, NY

Jan, really nice shots, I think you have almost run out of head room with the 1D Mk4 sensor, and can see some pressure coming for a 1D X body transplant, and unfortunately some damage to your bank balance.

I am speaking from personal experience, of moving to the "dark side" after 40 yrs, which also included a family of lenses.

The Bear was down on horsepower, but the paint never looked better. At least that's something. Rod sure has spent his fair share of his money painting this thing.

Great stuff Tim.

Here's a series of Nick Macy's mayday in the T-6 race.
Coming down home stretch in 1st place.

Engine blows after home pylon, Macy pulls up over pylon 2 setting up a short downwind to 14.
This shot shows his base leg to 14 - steep and tight.

Base to short final here - I thought he was in trouble about this spot. I could not see 14 in the quickness of the mayday. I was in the pits area which is quite a ways away from where he landed.

Smoke trailing, but runway in reach ...

Moments before touchdown - notice the fire coming out of the right exhaust stack.

Macy handled that very well. I'm sure he wanted to get out that thing quickly.
